Their can-do attitude has been inspirational and their enthusiasm for all we do has been nothing short of extraordinary. We’d already had the idea of using a celebrant rather than having a registrar for our wedding and we met Paula at a wedding fayre one sunny Sunday afternoon and left feeling excited by the prospect.

As well as raising spreading awareness of The Charity at their venues in London and Edinburgh, Underbelly’s The Big Brain Tumour Benefit is always a highlight of the year – providing lots of laughs and raising vital funds to accelerate a cure.Unfortunately, Heather was unable to join us on the night, but we presented her with the award at the launch event for our new strategy – Living Longer and Better: 2023-30. Above all, she aims to make your ceremony a warm and relaxing space, ensuring loving lasting memories for everyone attending. Will wanted to take on a challenge to raise money to help others diagnosed with a brain tumour and, as a rugby fan, set himself the goal of walking 70m, the width of a rugby pitch – a monumental distance for Will. After another quick break (and more time to take in the artwork on display) we moved on to announcing the winner of our Partnership of the Year award – Underbelly. The Celebrating You Awards are our chance to give something back to the inspiring people who’ve gone above and beyond to make a difference to the lives of those affected by a brain tumour. I would be delighted to help you celebrate you or your loved one: your uniqueness, your individuality, your story, your love. We held the event at the prestigious Business Design Centre in London, where our shortlisted nominees were able to enjoy a sneak peak of our Time art exhibition before the celebrations got underway. Grace Latter, who won the Influencer of the Year Award in 2018, said: “ Celebrating You is a wonderful way to give the amazing people involved with The Charity a truly deserved proper celebration. In this role, she touched the hearts and minds of so many, reaching out to offer comfort and hope to people going through a similar diagnosis.From meeting Paula for the first time at a wedding event in March, it was quite clear that we wouldn’t want anybody else to host our ceremony on our special day. This event is an opportunity for Black women to come and feel seen and supported amongst others with similar experiences in science.
