Giraffe calves normally manage to stand up within an hour or so after they are born. But Hagumi remained sitting. Domen found her hind legs bent at odd angles. The leg harnesses were improved in accordance with Hagumi's growth, and the calf can now even trot lightly. She is sometimes put on public display at the zoo while she practices walking or sunbathes.
